It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend, fellow chorus member, and chorus leader Joanne Lawson who left us January 5, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer.
Joanne’s unwavering commitment to our chorus was tireless, immeasurable, and long lasting. Joanne joined The New York Choral Society as a singer in 1967 and served in a variety of leadership roles beginning in 1972, most recently as Treasurer and Executive Vice President. Joanne’s joy in sharing her love of music-making as a singing member was infectious and her tireless efforts on behalf of the chorus as administrator and board member over 6 decades provided to our chorus will be dearly missed by all who knew her, worked with her, and sang with her.
Joanne will remain forever in our hearts.
