Guest Appearances

The New York Choral Society is the “chorus of choice” for many events and collaborations with distinguished conductors, musicians and performing arts organizations.

The Richard Tucker Music Foundation

The Richard Tucker Music Foundation, founded to support the careers of young American opera singers, is renowned for its annual gala concert often broadcast on WQXR, PBS and Medici TV.

Since 1993, our chorus has appeared as guest artist with opera stars including Stephanie Blythe, Stephen Costello, Michael Fabiano, Renee Fleming, Ailyn Pérez, Susan Graham, Jerry Hadley, Thomas Hampson, Angela Meade, Samuel Ramey, Bryn Terfel, Elina Garanča, Dolora Zajick, Isabelle Leonard, Joyce DiDonato, and Jamie Barton.

We share The Richard Tucker Music Foundation’s commitment to recognize and support the early careers of young American opera singers. A list of soloists who have performed early in their career with us can be found here.

Opera Orchestra of New York

Under the baton of conductor and Music Director Eve Queler, our chorus appeared frequently with the Opera Orchestra of New York in productions of rarely performed operas including Smetana’s Dalibor Bellini’s Norma and La sonnambula, Delibes Lakmé. Tchaikovsky’s The Maid of Orleans, Puccini’s Edgar, and Wagner’s Rienzi. These productions were noted for early career performances of Angela Meade, Samuel Ramey, Roberto Alagna, Jennifer Larmore, Stephanie Blythe and others.

Singers and Orchestras

Beginning in 2000, our chorus has appeared annually in concert with Tenor Andrea Bocelli under the direction of Stephen Mercurio and Eugene Kohn.   We have also performed with many celebrated singers including Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Pete Seger, and Peter, Paul & Mary!

The New York Choral Society has also collaborated with many orchestras and choruses including American Composers Orchestra, The Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Lincoln Center Festival, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, The Mannes Orchestra, New Jersey Youth Symphony, The Young People’s Chorus of New York City, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and American Boy Choir.

Artistic Collaborations

We frequently collaborate with choreographers, dance companies, visual artists and advocacy organizations including American Ballet Theater, José Limone Dance Company and Buglisi-Foreman Dance Company, CHEAP Collective, Esther Apituley, The Angel Band Project, and Legacies of War.

Our 2020-2021 season launched a series of collaborations with choreographers Claudia Schreier and Francesca Harper and artists Joyce McDonald, Brendan Fernandes and Gordon Hall.
