David Hayes conducts Mannes Orchestra in a program featuring Julius Eastman’s Symphony No. II

Mannes Orchestra returns to Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in a concert featuring the recently rediscovered and acclaimed Symphony No. II – The Faithful Friend: The Lover Friend’s Love for the Beloved, by Julius Eastman. Joining Eastman are two dynamic works created for the ballet – George Rochberg’s Black Sounds, scored for wind, brass and percussion (no strings!) and Bela Bartók’s, Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin, a tumultuous and tragic love story with an element of redemption at its close.
