JUNE 7, 2026

David Geffen Hall

A Cosmic and Spiritual Journey

Presented with the International Centre for Contemporary Music

Composed to honor the 500th anniversary of astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, Henryk Górecki’s Symphony No. 2 is a cosmic and spiritual journey. Scored for full orchestra, large chorus, soprano, and baritone, this powerful work pairs dramatic orchestral forces with texts from the Psalms and Copernicus’ own writings.
