Every Generation Must Decide What Kind of World It Wants to Build.
The week before the 2026 midterm elections, join us for a concert that asks a simple but urgent question:
What does resistance sound like?
Written in response to the rise of fascism in Europe and the events that led to Kristallnacht, Sir. Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time was a powerful act of protest. Nearly 90 years later, its message still hits home.
Filled with gripping spirituals such as Steal Away, Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen, and Deep River, A Child of Our Time transforms grief into action and despair into hope. Tippet’s compositions begin in darkness but ends with renewal, reminding us that even in difficult times, a better future is worth fighting for.
A Child of Our Time speaks out against oppression while holding onto the possibility of healing and change.
Before America heads to the polls, NYCHORAL invites you to gather with us in concert and remember how we have faced oppression before – and prevailed.
